Informal layouts are those where there is no specific order for the information. In both cases, the purpose of the layout is to get across the message in a clear way.
Typography
Typography is the use of typeface and font to convey meaning. When designing a website, typography
is used to create a unique look for the site. A good example of typography would be Helvetica Neue
Bold Italic. The bold font conveys a strong idea while the italics makes the words pop out at the reader.

Contrast
Contrast is the difference between the background and foreground. High contrast means that the background and foreground have different shades and colors. Low contrast means that the background is the same shade as the foreground.
White Space
It is the empty area around text. White space helps the reader focus on the text instead of the background. White space can also help break up long paragraphs of text.
Navigation
Navigation is the path users take to reach their desired destination. Navigational menus are usually located at the top left corner of the screen. These menus allow the user to move back and forth through the pages of the website.
Repetition
It is the use of similar text throughout a webpage. Repetition creates a sense of familiarity and continuity among the webpages.
